PlasmaOS
PlasmaOS is a KDE Plasma inspired Operating System Portfolio Template that aims at emulating the feeling and design of the KDE Plasma Desktop Environment for Linux Based Operating Systems. The Settings application has been reconverted into a portfolio container, as well as the Terminal made into a short about me of the user.

The Problem
There are so many templates on a marketplace but many of which fail to properly express the creators work through interesting containers, which ends up leading to mundane websites with inconsistent project association.
Key Issues
Many templates have several key issues that I wanted to fix with this new one:
Mundane layouts & Structures
Containers that have little to no personality or identity within them, which is an important element for a portfolio
Failing to stand out as the most popular portfolio templates are the ones that are the most simple.
Inspiration
Before designing the site and getting the idea sorted, finding appropriate sources of inspiration for neutral containers that allow the user to make their own adjustments to the container to properly represent them and who they are, is very important for a project like this.

Analysis
The difficult part of projects like these are finding appropriate elements that we can source inspiration from and recreate into something a little bit different and new. I decided to use a more niche operating system to target a different audience, and include all of the content inside of the settings app of the Linux Distro.
Research & Insights
Before designing the site and getting the idea sorted, finding appropriate sources of inspiration for neutral containers that allow the user to make their own adjustments to the container to properly represent them and who they are, is very important for a project like this.
KDE Plasma
After all of the research, the best option that I ran into was a Linux Distro called KDE Plasma, hence the name of the template, PlasmaOS.

Final Product
After many iterations and designs, making sure to add things that the previous template never had, the final result turned out really well!
Improvements and Features
Custom 404 Error Page that acts as a computer shutdown
Overlays for the start menu, making impossible interactions possible
Drag Effect on Window containers to better stimulate a desktop environment
Hover animations that are directly inspired from the actual system
Final Takeaways
There are still even more refinements and improvements that could be made with a project like this, through more personalised elements to a better desktop simulated environment.
